Nobody knows the release dates of updates or new apps.
John (le chef around here) keeps them a secret because too much people were asking every day after the proposed date.
So just wait with the rest of us.
Hope you like it here.

I tried this but ended up with some weird HTML looking tags in a grey box at the bottom of the screen. The tags were all referencing MENU commands. So I just went back to 1.5.

Person 2: What?
Person 1: I can't remember, I've forgotten.

This is often the result of an incompatible extension. It happens on the desktop version of Firefox, too. Unfortunately, you'll have to troubleshoot and figure out which one it is.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Trying this to upgrade my PTB2b1 gave me a blank left and right panel, making it impossible to view any emails or navigate anywhere I guess I'll have to wait.
Johns latest beta left 2 folders (according to regshot):
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\{username}\Anwendungsdaten\gnupg
C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\{username}\Anwendungsdaten\mozilla
mozilla was empty but
gnupg had
pubring.gpg
trustdb.gpg
secring.gpg
inside.
And the "do you want TB to be your default mail application"-window popped up.
(I posted this earlier but in the wrong place so John deleted it.)
Any coments?

"old" /Data folder into the TB2 beta2 folder so I had gpg installed.
But the time when the gpg files were produced, I forgot to copy the /App/gpg folder.
My mistake.
But the mozilla folder remained.

So I waited for official beta release to come from portableapps.com since I was having trouble installing it in the above mentioned matter. I thought I would start by uninstalling all extensions/add-ons. Then I upgraded to beta 2. It works great, but there is this at the bottom....
What is the menu id tag at the bottom and how do I get rid of that whole section. I love the look of Beta2 and would like to try it out. But that section at the bottom is a bit annoying.
That's an incompatible extension or a profile issue (usually caused by extension bits left behind after uninstalling extensions). It happens in Firefox, too. (happened in 1.0 to 1.5 and 1.5 to 2.0 even on local installs). Try a fresh install if you want to play with it. And remember, it's a beta, so there are issues with it. You shouldn't be using it on your real email profile.

1. Download official Mozilla Thunderbird 2.0 beta 2
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/thunderbird/all-beta.html
2. Extract the exe file using Universal Extractor - http://legroom.net/modules.php?op=modload&name=Open_Source&file=index&pa...
3. Replace whole content of "nonlocalized" and "localized" directory to your
ThunderbirdPortable/App/thunderbird/
it works in my case.
Works fine, thank you!

Any thoughts?

I see.... It was the Minimize to Tray extension.
However I see that you are releasing the portable TB beta 2 (based upon your post in the general discussion). I'll wait for the portable apps release.
Thanks for your help,
Timothy

2.0 Beta 2 doesn't even include GPG built into it, so it can't have produced those GPG files.
