Personal Note:
I know you will say "There is VLC Portable or Media Player Classic - Home Cinema Portable" to me. But I like and use this video (or media) player. It's a small package and playing lots of video and audio formats. It looks more simple and powerfull than the others. I only say to you "Setup this application, open. Than press 2 from keyboard (not numpad). Thanks for your all works..."
What are the specific advantages over or additional features from MPC-HC? It's not specified anywhere. The project page doesn't say and they don't have a website other than the automatically generated SourceForge default.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
I like simple applications. MPC-BE is a simple open sourge application. Maybe it's not different than MPC-HC, but like MPC-BE layout than MPC-HC layout.
Advantages
Smaller Package
Updated often
~ MPC-BE - One in a week or two weeks
~ MPC-HC - One in three monts
Thanks...
The only difference I can see is that "Black Edition" pre-loads a specific theme and has a few minor theme adjustment options. It's still very odd that it doesn't even specify that much on its SF page and that it has no website.
MPC-HC itself has all sorts of themes if you prefer a different look:

A difference of a few MBs doesn't matter much these days. Updating every week or two is a big negative as it requires a lot of extra work for little benefit and end users end up using bandwidth they shouldn't have to. There's really no reason for a media player to need weekly updates. A nightly/test version of a media player could easily have very frequent updates, but the stable version shouldn't. Otherwise, it's not really stable.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
1)MPC-Black Edition Continues to receive updates, has bug-fixes that patch MPC-Classic (which is no longer updated) non operational options.
2)MPC-Blak Edition resolves the broken MPC-Classic broken icon issue.
3)MPC-Classic performs better on modern computers running on high priority and actually achieves small, but noticeable video graphic smoothing (see advanced graphic options in the program) with extremely low bad quality home made uploaded videos downloaded from video sites like dailymotion, YouTube, etc.
Came here to see if there was a portable version... apparently the same old argument...
http://lmgtfy.com/?q=mpc-bc+vs+mpc-be
of if that is too much effort...
http://mediaclassicplayer.com/mpc-hc-vs-mpc-be/
reasons to ditch the HC version in favor of the BE version... movie formats get tuned, windows versions get updated... the BE version gets updated. HC updating seems to be dead
Don't care much for themes since I only use either for video in full screen.
Updating frequency of a portable version BC doesn't need to stay in sync with standalone version, for those interested to have the latest it's easy to innounp the standalone installer and replace the content of the app folder.
I'd already be glad if there was a PAF compatible version to begin with
The second link that you posted contains malware according to Google Safebrowsing and doesn't seem to be an official site. It might be a false positive, but for those that want to be careful and still read the info I took a screenshot of the entire page (using https://web-capture.net/): https://i.imgur.com/L6lf0PK.png
MPC-HC is widely considered to be the best preforming video player around, so I don't see why we need to port this fork.

Yeah, always wanted to see it here! For me, the best video/media player (you only have to give it a try and see) in terms of performance, simplicity —yet advanced— and features by far... So thank you very much
v1.52 is released, and supports new AV1 and VP9 codec.
Please update if you have time. Thank you.
