Can you allow users to delete their own comments just like they can edit them?
If you look for a specific reason why it's needed other than privacy, then threads like https://portableapps.com/development/test have very obsolete comments, which cause their authors to get notified every time someone else posts a comment.
So please allow deleting one's own comments at least for this and similar threads if not just in general.
I'm not sure about it since the Drupal upgrade, but it used to be that you could delete your comments as long as they were the last one in each thread.
As soon as someone replied to you, you lost the ability to delete since it would affect more than just your comment.
So to delete your posts on that thread would also delete the 6 comments that were done (most likely accidentally) as direct replies to yours.
It is possible to turn off notifications for individual pages as well as on comments in general in your "my account" page. If you're unable to do this yourself (it might be a setting i'm seeing that's not publicly available), post here again and we can arrange for that setting to be changed.
as Gord has mentioned already, if you go to your account - subscriptions - settings and uncheck everything you don't want, this should at least stop the notifications. You may also (just because) check digest mode and daily to combine any notifications into a single email.
I have everything unchecked and the options under visibility set to hidden and I don't recall getting any notifications here or by email.
In most cases I don't want to delete my comments, so I don't want to modify notification settings. Right now this is the last comment and I still can't delete it.
