Updater: Calm the updater

During an update done by PortableApps.coms Updater some applications asked always for a folder name and if this applications should be installed.
This might be right for an installer, but a Updater should work calm and without interaction with the user, or?

Is it possible to do the update processes quiet?
(Wasn't this the behaviour before?)

Keep the platform open

Stop closing the platform while the updater is running. The installers depend on the platform.

I have that same problem as

I have that same problem as well...This is with the platform still opened. For every update I had to manually install each program after it all downloaded. I am not exactly sure what is causing this type of issue.

Reboot update scan

Reboot your PC. Be sure you've applied all windows updates. Don't run the platform with any special permissions. It must be run under your current user account. Be sure you haven't messed up the permissions of the drive the platform is running from. Scan for viruses.

The only time the installer asks you to select a directory is if it can't see the platform installed to the relative path or can't detect the platform running. Either the drive permissions or windows itself have to be seriously messed up for this situation to occur.

but this wasn't the point described above.

Maybe this is an answer to a wrong thread?

Still

This problem is still an issue. Platform left open, Windows restarted and up-to-date.

This behaviour didn't changed until now!

The update process needs more interaction than before:
"Disabled Next in App Store/Updater until selection made" (changlog v16.0.3 [2019-08-08])
Now there has to be more work to be done to start the update.
I mean if I choose update it should work like the "Windows Update": start and let the updater do the complete work without any interaction.
Otherwise I will not call it "Update".
But here I will have to choose every application I want to update and than during the installation process I will have to choose the folder and than start the installation. The next application also wants my attention. Not really comfortable.
And yes - I did all what was recommended here before - nothing helps...!

That's Not What That Means

The listed addition means that you can't click next in the app store until a selection is made from the app list. Otherwise you can click Next without picking the apps you want to update or install which could crash it.

The issue you are seeing is some installers not running silently. This will occur if you close the PortableApps.com Platform during an update. It will also occur when the installer can't properly enumerate the running processes on your PC. With older installers, this would cause it to not realize the platform was running when around 300 or more processes were running on your PC. However, if it's newer apps with current installers, it could be something else on your PC. A reboot will usually resolve the issue.

PortableApps.com Installer 3.5.13

Today's release of PortableApps.com Installer 3.5.13 should fully fix this issue. For those affected when you currently have ~300+ processes running, please try updating to or installing this release via the updater/app store. It should run silently.

Thank you!

Hi John!

Now the update process is working like a charm!
No more user interaction is needed! Very nice.

Thanks's a lot!
