Thunderbird portable.Windows XP

Good Day All.
Thunderbird portable.Windows XP
Using POP3.
I travel between two locations.
I have a Windows 10 64bit desktop at each location.
I have Thunderbird Portable on a Thumb Drive.
At each location I just plug in the Thumb Drive and launch Thunderbird portable.
Has worked well.
I also update the local machine at each location with SyncToy by syncing the “Mail” folder.
Two days ago when I arrived at one of the locations, my Desktop died shortly after boot-up.
DEAD!!
I pulled out an old XP 32bit laptop and tried to launch Thunderbird off the thumb Drive.
It would not launch.
I suspect the version on the Thumb Drive is 64 bit.
I found and installed Thunderbird Portable 32bit V5 n the XP laptop.
I copied ALL of the Profile contents on the Thumb drive to the Profile folder on the Laptop
(Thunderbird Portable) as per:

https://portableapps.com/support/thunderbird_portable#local_profile

“Copying Your Local Thunderbird Settings

If you're using a local copy of Thunderbird, you may wish to just copy your local
Thunderbird settings right into Thunderbird Portable. Your local Thunderbird profile is
usually installed in C:\Documents and Settings\[user]\Application
Data\Thunderbird\Profiles\default.???\ or C:\Users\[user]
\AppData\Thunderbird\profiles\default.???. Just copy all of those files to the Data\profile
directory within Thunderbird Portable. Sometimes, certain profiles will cause the launcher
to fail or hang. In that case, start from scratch and try just copying your mailstores
(Mail and ImapMail directories) as well as your prefs.js and abook.mab files.”

Did not work.
I then tried just copying the Mail folder, Address Book and the prefs.js to the Profile
folder on the laptop. (after restoring just the original files from the install to the
Profile folder)
After launch:
It found the address Book but the Mail folders and the Accounts are still missing.
I tried messing with the prefs.js from the thumb drive and too many variations to mention.
As a note, there are three prefs.js files on the Thumb Drive.
prefs.js
prefs-1.js
prefs-2.js
I just cannot get Thunderbird Portable to work on the XP laptop.
It will not launch using the “Platform” either.
I am now really in a bind as I really need Thunderbird because I monitor some 12 POP3
accounts.

Any ideas?

Doesn't Support XP

Like many apps today, Thunderbird no longer supports Windows XP or Vista. Support was dropped over a year ago. The last version of Thunderbird that supports it is 52.9.1, I believe. I am not sure if you can copy a current Thunderbird profile into that old version, though.

That's why I installed

That's why I installed Version 5 32bit.

If we could do it alone, we would'nt need each other.

Not Supported

Version 5 would be insanely out of date and insecure and completely incompatible with the current Thunderbird files.

Thanks John.

Thanks John.
I'll dump that.
Don't suppose you would know the Last desktop full install for XP and whether that would work?
On the thumb drive, the current Mozilla Thunderbird, Portable Edition is version 2.1.2.0.
It was working fine three days ago and has worked fine for quite a while on Windows 10.
Is there a way to tell it where the Profile is?
On this old XP laptop it does not Launch.
I pulled out an old Dell Latitude E6410 with Windows 7 Pro 64bit and it does launch but it launches as a new install.
It asks to setup an account and none of the folders or accounts are showing.
Progress!
Is there a way to point it at the Profile in the Data folder?
It's not seeing the profile.
