OK I hope this is the right place to put this, but for those of you who play EVE online at home and work like myself may get a kick out of this.
I just installed EVE online into a folder of it's own in my portable apps USB drive, and it worked on my laptop and my workstation. Nothing to it really except to make sure it installs to the directory, like mine was "F:\PortableApps\EVE". Simple as that. I didn't find any posts regarding this and figured my first post would be this.

There is the chance, however that it leaves files behind, or registry keys behind on the host computer. If that is the case, it's not really portable.
It may not be "really" portable, but it certainly sounz as tho' it is "really" mobile.

Yeah, well Linux "just works", but its apps are FAR from being portable, so your "definition" actually ain't all that 'proper'...
Certainly, though, a clearer noemenclature is in order to distinguish between the 2 'types' of portability.
"Drop-in" and "standalone" are two terms tha come to mind at the moment.

Linux apps are portable in the sense that, say on Puppy Linux, no writes are ever done to the filesystem. It's all written to RAM.

Sorry, but that's an example of the *entire OS* being portable, not just a particular app or two.
Plus, when you order Puppy to save anything, it WILL write the save to the flashdrive or "-/+RW" disc that it's hosted on - even saving Puppy system changes like a particular theme, font size, config info or wallpaper.

Not if you are running in Live-CD mode and you don't mount the hard drives.

I've been playing EVE from my portable drive (and even launching it from the PortableApps Menu) for months now.
It doesn't leave any files behind, but I'm unsure about registry keys.
Either way, it works, as all settings are saved to the drive and carried over to other computers.

I was wondering is there anyway that I can get EVE to show up on the U3 Launcher?
I have an ScanDisk Micro U3 Drive
I don't think they were talking about U3, but if you have Eve running off your U3 drive just use Smithtech's ShortcutCreator for U3 to create an entry in your U3Menu.
