Rapid CRC Unicode - Virus?

Vipre Anti-Virus software is blocking the latest version (0.3.31) of Rapid CRC Unicode Portable during installation.

The Portable Apps Updater claims to have successfully installed the updated version, but Vipre has blocked the installation.

The Vipre log says, "Virus.GenericKD.33029228" with a "Threat Level" of "Extremely High".

Vipre's explanation of "Virus.GenericKD.33029228" is incredibly generic.

The file cited by Vipre as being quarantined is the downloaded PAF file.

Can anyone at Portable Apps upload their PAF to "Virus Total" for some independent analysis.

It wouldn't be the first time that Vipre was acting paranoid about an executable, but it could be a package with a problem attached also.

False Positive, App Homepage

It appears to be a false positive due to a heuristic detection in a couple engines. If you visit the Rapid CRC Unicode Portable homepage, you'll see a link called Antivirus Scan below the download link that shows the current VirusTotal scan. You'll find this on all our current app homepages for easy reference. It looks like whatever base engine all of those (and likely Vipre) share shows a "Trojan.GenericKD.33029228" detection. That indicates a heuristic detection. So, it isn't alerting on a virus it knows. It's alerting on something in a given thing that might possibly be suspicious. I've submitted a false positive report so they'll hopefully fix their issue.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
