What is FirefoxPortable.exe?

Its size is 177kb so its not a shortcut. Its in the first folder of FirefoxPortable yet there's a folder called App which holds both the 32 and 64 bit versions. When I used this FirefoxPortable.exe it opened the 32 bit version even though I have a 64 bit system. Shouldn't it have defaulted to the 64 bit version?

FirefoxPortable.exe is a mini

FirefoxPortable.exe is a mini launcher for making firefox itself portable. It is doing the work of choosing between x32 and x64. The major part of the code is in FirefoxPortable/Other/Source/FirefoxPortableU.nsi if you want to check it out.

Portabilizing application... 14 at the moment

Sooooo shouldn't it have

Sooooo shouldn't it have defaulted to the 64bit version as my operating system is 64bit?
I haven't been using it - I have my shortcut going to ~app\Firefox64.exe. Could that cause problems? Is there an option allowing me to choose which version it should point to?

FirefoxPortable.exe

You must run FirefoxPortable.exe directly or via the PA.c Menu. Don't run any Firefox.exe directly.

Why do I need to run it

Why do I need to run it directly?
I've been running Firefox64.exe directly for weeks with no issues. What could happen?

Local Mode

If you run that without FirefoxPortable.exe, Firefox is running in local mode (APPDATA, registry, etc). In which case, why both with the portable version?

I thought I checked that before.

I thought for sure the appdata area wasn't increasing in size. But now its over 200 mb. That was the problem before. I'll use Treesize to monitor which folder is increasing. Right now I seem to have 3 profiles. All are named in random gibberish ending in
.default (0 bytes)
.default-release (200 mb and I deleted cache/cookies last night)
.default-release-1 (13 mb but it hasn't seem to have been modified for a couple of weeks)
How I managed to create 3 profiles is a mystery.
And how does one get FirefoxPortable.exe to point to the 64 bit version?
