Unattended full install?

Hi everyone:
Can't seem to find my answer, so hopefully it's possible. I want to install ALL the apps to my usb drive but it keeps asking me to confirm installation for every single app, I don't have the time to baby sit the program and click on 'agree' each time (I finally gave up after an hour of this, and only 10% of the programs are installed) Is there unattended option to get them all into my usb?
Any help is appreciated, thanks !

I am having this problem

I am having this problem recently on all my flash drives. It use to install all the apps in unattended mode, now i have to click through each installer dialog. Is anyone else having this problem? Is this by design with a new update? Its not really good for me as I have multiple usb sticks and use them in different ways. Its really not good if I have to sit though each install.

Update: 2019-06-21: So it seems like its a Windows Configuration Issue. I have updated multiple portable apps flash drives on one of my machines and it updates the normal way in unattended mode, but I brought that memory stick over to another windows 10 platform and it did not update the apps in unattended mode, it asks me to run though the install manually. So it seems specific to a system configuration. Has anyone else been having this problem?

Can anyone suggest a possible reason as to why this is happening?

Processes Running

A bug was discovered in the NSIS plugin that detects whether a process is running that causes it to fail if more than around 250-300 processes are running on Windows (or if several very long process names are running, I think). If you close a handful of apps, particularly Chrome or other Chromium based browsers which spawns a TON of processes, it should work around the issue. Newer installers work around this issue but older installers are affected by it.

Thanks for the info. I did

Thanks for the info. I did not see this post when I made my update. I will try closing down processes on the effected machine.

PortableApps.com Installer 3.5.13

Please try PortableApps.com Installer 3.5.13 via the updater or app store to ensure it installs silently when running a ton of processes. This should fix the issue. I'll be updating new releases to this and adding in a check to the platform to warn you when you have the situation causing the issue and are going to be installing apps that are affected by it.

Unattended install

John,

I can see which version of the platform is running but I don't readily see the version of the installer. This is probably my biggest problem with the Portable Apps suite, it is asking me to click at least 3 times for each and every application it is installing. I just tried installing Lupo on the same system and stick and it installed seamlessly without any need for my intervention. Also, are there so many more apps on this platform to make the difference between an install of less than 1gb and one of over 30gb?

Firefox?

When I'm referring to the installer above, I'm referring to a bug that was addressed in a specific update of the installer. The version of the installer used is different for each app based on when that app was updated. For example, please enable the listing of advanced apps in the options window and then install Firefox ESR or Firefox Beta. It should install silently as these use the latest installers.

The old suite you're referencing includes a much smaller set of apps and is dangerously outdated. Nearly all apps have security issues due to having old versions. The older versions are also smaller in the case of bigger apps. This is why the PA.c Platform downloads the latest updated apps as you decide to install them. You get updated, secure apps regardless of when you download or install.

UPDATE: I almost forgot that 16.1 has a fix and detection for this issue. It will specifically warn you when the issue will occur on your system and which older apps have an affected installer. I thought it was included in the current release, but forgot it was still in beta. Apologies for the mixup.

unattended install

So will the apps install without my interference? I downloaded the latest installer and the download took forever (when I updated all apps after download). Is there a full download?

FYI - I am in the process of writing a comparison article of this suite, lupo, and pstart. Other than the security / update, Lupo will end up scoring higher, unless I am missing that there is an unattended install feature and that there is a way to create sub categories.

Unattended, Licensing, Abandonware

You can do an unattended install of all the open source software and the freeware that doesn't require a license agreement at present on first run. The ability to agree to all licenses upfront for the freeware is coming in a future release. Showing the license agreements is required in our agreements with the publishers whose software we package.

We don't currently do a monolithic suite of software as there will generally be at least one app that is outdated and insecure within a day or two of releasing it. We may add an English-only, monthly update suite that does an update check as part of the install at some point in the future. Most of the freeware apps would not be eligible for inclusion, though, as most publishers don't give permission for such bundling.

You're free to review as you wish but it's worth noting that the other suite you reference includes software in violation of its license and copyright, including software from PortableApps.com. And it was abandoned over 4 years ago, so you're installing old, insecure, unsupported software that won't be updated. It's also worth noting that downloading and updating will take longer for our suite as we have about 3 times as many apps and they're all real, full apps (no shovelware small single-use utilities that mostly serve to inflate app numbers).

Thanks for the quick reply. I have already noted some of this in the review. I might add that the only 2 items that keep the PortableApps suite from shining over and above the rest are the sie of the update download (which is understandable given what you have said) and the inability to create sub-categories, a real deal-breaker for me personally and is generally unfortunate. As I stated in the review, I like to have multiple sub-categories within each category (think Browsers, FTP, Downloaders, etc. in the Internet category, and Graphic Editors, Graphics Viewers, Icon Extractors, etc., in the Graphics category).

I see a lot of requests on this site for work in categories. I am not a programmer but if there is a way I can help, I would be more than happy to do so. I also would be happy to send you a link to the review once it is finished.

Vote for up front license agreements

The ability to rapidly click through all the license agreements up front then let things churn would be a huge help.
