I downloaded portable apps and some programs but as I don't have admin rights at work I can't run any exe files so it won't load. Is there a way around this?

You can try renaming the exe to something that already exists on the system.
Like explorer.exe or winword.exe or excel.exe etc.
Most exe restrictions are list based meaning the admins maintain a list of exe's that are allowed.
If this works, you will also have to edit the ini files for the launchers that support it.

A good system will include the path of whitelisted executables, and an even better one would verify checksums. Only a piss-poor program would be fooled by that. Good luck, though.

Tried this today but no joy. Would U3 work on this type of system? Having to use IE6 at work when I'm used to firefox isn't a nice experience.
If you can't run EXEs, you can't use any portable platform at all.

My problem is the exact opposite: I can run exe files, but I don't have permission to download them. Can I find the zip file without the exe installer somewhere? Thanks!
Download them at home/friends house/internet cafe/anywhere else. Problem solved.
