Claws Mail

Since the Thunderbird team seems to be uncooperative with PortableApps.com and giving assistance to Mr. Haller, might I suggest a portable fork for Claws Mail?

https://www.claws-mail.org/

It's free, open source, carries multiple accounts, is continually updated and looks like a good alternative to Thunderbird.

It's also is an offshoot of Sylpheed, which hasn't been updated here in two years.

Volunteer

If a volunteer would like to take it, great. I don't have time at present.

The Thunderbird devs are just fine. Fixes will be discussed in other threads.

And yet you don't really have

And yet you don't really have a viable email client to offer. Opera Mail and Sylpheed are still listed, yet development on them has stopped. Why are they still there?

I would think that replacing them with an alternative would be a priority, imo...

Help Test

You could also help test this Firefox patch: https://portableapps.com/node/60496

The same one will be used to update Thunderbird so extensions are fully portable post version 68.

followup

It's been a few weeks, so when is that happening?

It looks like Thunderbird no longer has any interest in helping out with a portable version.

Again, I suggest Claws as an alternative.

Recovering

I was recovering from COVID-19-like symptoms. I didn't want to do Thunderbird of SeaMonkey until I was 100% mentally as they involve quite a few changes.
