I've got platform 17.1.1 onto a thumbdrive … it works … but …
I've d/l a small app from another place … its an RAR … I can open the RAR and all …
but how do I get it into the drive?
Please be patient with my ignorance …

In 2017 there was a discussion on adding additional folders to the Platform so unofficial .paf apps as well non .paf apps (all portable of course) could be added to the platform. Don't know if they ever added it or not, I don't use the platform, but John mentioned he would add a readme file with how to add these additional apps to the Platform. I would scour the Platform folders for a Readme of some sort with recommendations. You will likely either need to find the folder for non-paf or unofficial apps or create the folder yourself.
The Platform or you yourself might need to scan the newly added app to locate the .exe file and add it... it should be pretty easy to do - check the docs provided in the Platform, I would figure something is in there.

A word of caution, make sure to add only fully portable apps otherwise kinda defeats the purpose
Your suggestions were helpful … right now I'm taking half a day d/l all those nice apps on this sight to see how they work … (I don't have a slow connection but very slow usb 2.0's outlets) using a very old workstation
