[Fixed] OBS Studio Portable not starting on Windows 7

I was excited to see OBS Studio Portable added to PortableApps, and I finally had few minutes to give it a try on a Win7 64-bit box.

It downloaded and installed fine, but no UI appeared at all.

I had to close it using Task Manager.

I tried it several times, but same problem each time. No UI or error messages appear when running it.

The only thing that happens is that a 32-bit process named OBSPortable.exe gets launched as well as a 64-bit process named obs64.exe. But no app windows appear for OBS.

Using PortableApps launcher v17.1.1.

Windows 7 not supported

Checking the System Requirements for OBS Studio, Windows 7 is not a supported operating system.
We'll update that information in the next release of OBS Studio Portable.

[EDIT] Note that I've changed the title of this thread to reflect the nature of the change that needs to be made on our end, and marked this as a bug so we can track it.

Maybe

It may, I posted about it below.

Test Me

Please download this zip file and unzip the contents to OBSPortable\App\obs-studio\bin\64bit. This might get it working. Try again and report back. If it still fails, explore to OBSPortable\App\obs-studio\bin\64bit and run obs64.exe directly. It'll run in local mode but it should show you the error.

OBS no longer supports Windows 7 but I think it will still work with the right libraries. I can't test it as OBS won't run with the VirtualBox display driver and I only have access to Windows 7 in a VM.

Fixed in 26.0.2 Rev 2

This is fixed in today's release by including the VC files. I have a way to test inclusion in upcoming releases and will make it a part of the release process.

Thank. I will give it a try

Thank. I will give it a try soon.

After posting my original post above (and before everyone had time to respond), I tried running OBS about 15 times on a Win7 box. Every time, except once, it had the issue described. But one time it worked correctly. Any idea how it was able to work once? It seems like with prerequisite DLLs missing, it should have never worked.
