Gridcoin-portable

Hello!

I tried to poke around, and I can't quite figure out how to NSIS, so I would like to ask the fine dev community at large to please attempt to portablize the Gridcoin wallet. There is a github issue regarding this: https://github.com/Erkan-Yilmaz/Gridcoin-tasks/issues/4

It is free and open source, and an MIT license.

According to a couple of members in our community, the wallet data can indeed be moved to portable folder and accessed without stuff installed on the OS drive, but my programming knowledge is limited by inexperience (I started coding in April). I am more than willing to help anybody test on this project, and I'm sure I could provide valuable insight on the inner-workings and common problems associated with inital setup, but packaging it all is a little beyond me for now. Biggrin

.NET

As far as I know, the code currently contains .NET framework... but there were plans to port things to mono or something of that nature. Perhaps if someone from the community feels like weighing in on this, it can be taken further.

For now, this is halted on my end. Please download BOINC https://portableapps.com/apps/utilities/boinc-portable to help science and distributed computing research. Smile

well then.

Asked in the Gridcoin Telegram yesterday about the .NET stuff, and it would seem the app is entirely C++ now. Maybe I'll try my hand at portablizing it... after some other bigger projects.
