Open Office in Portable Apps Menu

I have six Open Office menu options in the Portable Apps menu: Base, Draw, Math, Writer, Calc and Impress. In my Portable Apps/OpenOfficePortable folder I have seven exe files; one for each of the above plus one that simply launches the Open Office application.

I have removed the six apps from the Portable Apps menu by renaming .exe to .ex_, but I can't get the PortableApps menu to acknowledge the OpenOfficePortable.exe application.

Can it be done? If so, how?

You can

Officially, not yet. PortableApps Menu uses a hack to only show the multi icons and not the base icon. This hack will go away once support for PortableApps Format's multi-icon setup is added to the Menu.

Until then, you can delete all the OOP launchers and use the OpenOffice.org Portable Single Icon Hack Launcher instead.

OOP Hack Launcher

John

Thanks again for your support. I simply copied the file into my PortableApps Open Office folder and refreshed the Portable Apps menu icons. Lo and behold up pops the icon I wanted and it launches a "generic" Open Office blank template. Just what I wanted. Far less clutter on the Portable Apps menu.

Very cool.

Is there any reason this is not on the OOOP page under support?

Not supported

Simple, it isn't supported or officially recommended. It gets overwritten when you upgrade OOP. And it'll be unnecessary within the next month (I've already got test code for the multi-icons support in PortableApps Menu).
