I had a working copy of FF 2.0.0.1 on my 512. I also had its exe. file on the drive.
When I installed the Apps Suite Menu a non-updated copy of FF appeared on the menu.
My drive is locked in that I cannot remove the unwanted copy of FF nor can I get
the Apps Menu to delete as it says it cannot remove FF because it is being used some where else. I stored a copy of my working FF in My Documents and stripped the
drive virtually except I CANNOT delete the Apps Menu. It's beautiful to look at
but PStart worked very well and I never had problems like this. Somehow there are
two Apps Start icons in my system tray as well.
I guess the fact that I had two copies of FF on the drive has made this mess. All
I want to do now is clean it up at any cost.

You need to close it first. You can't delete a program while it's running (this applies to all Windows programs portable or not). If you see the PortableApps.com icon in your system tray... it's running. Click it and then click the X button on the menu to close it. Looks like you started it twice. Close em both.
You can't delete any of the apps that the Menu is showing while it's running either because it keeps a file handle open to them. Just close the menu and you can delete anything you want. This will change in the 1.1 release.
And you can copy your updated copy of Firefox Portable into your PortableApps folder if you want. It'll show up when you launch the menu again.

I'm sorry to be so dense but I've used lots of your apps before John and NEVER had
such problems. I love the look of the menu and I do want to use it so first I
need to re-install it.
I did see a folder of portable apps data. If I send my FF from my documents to
my portable drive, is the apps folder where I drop it to get it to show up on the
menu? The drive is blank now so I want to do this installation the right way.

Don't worry about it Donna. It's easier than you think it is. The menu expects a certain set of folders to exist. You can install the Suite, Suite Lite or Suite Base (just the Menu and Backup) to start with. Just decide which apps you want and don't worry if you're installing one that you already have since you're starting with a blank drive.
Now, before starting the Menu up (with StartPortableApps.exe or automatically on plugging it in), copy any existing portable apps you have to your X:\PortableApps directory (where X is your drive letter). So, if you already have FileZillaPortable somewhere, copy that whole FileZillaPortable directory into X:\PortableApps. You can also copy your existing FirefoxPortable directory right on top of the one that exists within the Suite. Just copy it to X:\PortableApps as well. Let it replace any files that already exist.
Once you're happy, start up the menu. It'll automatically find any apps you have that are within your PortableApps directory.

perfectly. Obviously it was the operator and not the product!

It happens to the best of us. It's a bit confusing making the transition from individual apps to the newer integrated experience of the menu. But it'll just keep getting better with each later release.

I searched and found some posts on this but no real answer.
The icon in the system tray cannot be closed on my copy unless I use Task Manager.
I assume the close button is the red X on lower right---nothing happens.

But what this usually is is another program with a hidden window blocking the X from being clicked. ObjectDock is known to do this (it uses a non-standard systray that breaks some apps). There was another app which I've forgotten. The next beta will have a fix for this.
Unless of course the menu looks really weird on your system (distorted), in which case it is the 120dpi bug that the beta fixes.
