Hi all. Can someone advise me on something? From time to time, the following file is left on the host computer. \%userprofile%\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\pluginreg.dat
Most of the time, it is deleted after MF,PE close, but once in a while after installing or deleting an extension, it is left behind. Does anyone have any ideas why? I have the following extensions installed:
MySpell (French)
DOM Inspector
Download Statusbar
FireFTP
FoxyProxy
infoRSS
PermaTabs
Also, there seems to be one registry entry left behind. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\mozilla.org\Mozilla
There are 2 keys, one key is "Default". The second key is CurrentVersion and this is set to 1.8.1.1 -- the same version number as DOM Inspector. Can I just delete DOM Inspector? What does it do?
Thank you.
Well, it was not the DOM Inspector. I deleted this extension and the registry entry still shows up.
1.8.1.1 is the version of Gecko that Firefox uses. Gecko is the browsing engine. There are many other browsers and other HTML/JS-processing apps that use it. The entry should not be there after Fx closes.
Vintage!
Thank you for your response.
So it it just me or are other MFPE users experiencing this orphaned registry entry? If just me, I'll reinstall it. If not just me, I'll wait until next version...
By the way, with FF 2.0.0.2, the registry entry value is now CurrentVersion = 1.8.1.2.
