FF portable as default browser + multiple instances

User has successfully used a third-party tool to register FF portable as the default browser in Windows.

User wants to be able to retain this setting while launching other instances (different versions) of FF portable.

When AllowMultipleInstances=true is set in .ini, the default browser setting no longer works correctly. For example, clicks to hyperlinks in the system or via other apps will now open the wrong FF instead of the default instance.

Is there a way to achieve (1) original FF portable remaining default, while (2) allowing multiple different FF portable instances?

I recently found this bug. It

I recently found this bug. It breaks for me JDownloader integration with Firefox Portable.
Main problem is - "for last Firefox portable you cannot start normally many instances just by clicking on FirefoxPortable.exe". Other problem is that "FirefoxPortable.exe cannot serve links as commandline parameters"

Hello.

Hello.
I am using FF portable 94.0.1 and have tried setting it as the default browser in Windows 10.
The problem is : when I click on a link somewhere in the OS (in Outlook for example), it does open FF portable, but the instance already running but a new instance, while I would like it to open all new links in the already open instance.
I don't know how to achieve this.

Inside the C:\FirefoxPortable folder, put a file FirefoxPortable.ini that contains the following line:
AllowMultipleInstances=true
Be sure to save this file with notepad because other text editors such as Notepad++ may give unexpected results (see replies about that subject in my forum thread here: https://portableapps.com/node/64955 ). Finally, delete the Mozilla folder that can be found under each one of these three different folder locations:

  • %AppData%
  • %LocalAppData%
  • %ProgramData%

Clicking on a hyperlink in an e-mail message in Windows Mail app or MS Outlook (desktop app) should now open this hyperlink in the already open instance of Firefox Portable.
