Can't connect to PortableApps software catalog

Hello everyone.
Until yesterday, I were able to download and install new Apps by using Apps->Get more Apps->By category, but now, as I try, I get an error telling:
"Unable to connect to PortableApps.com to retrieve portable apps. Please try again later. [ Redirection (303) ]"
Why? Note I'm using Wine with XUbuntu, but this didn't happen until yesterday, indeed.

Thanks in advance for any help.

[Edit]: I get the same error regardless if I choose any other submenu of "Get more Apps".

WINE issue, Check version

It looks like WINE is refusing to handle a redirect in its wininet.dll. Not sure why. There have been no changes on our end. The platform hasn't changed in a month and a half.

I just tried it out in POP_OS and experienced the same issue. It was using an old WINE 5.0.3 build. You can check on the command line with 'wine --version'. I manually updated it to 6.0.1 (instructions for POP_OS and the updated/app store is now working.

I have 5.0.3 here, I'll check your instructions right after posting this reply.

Similar behavior Win10

Starting yesterday, I noticed when I tried checking for updates with the PortableApps platform (18.0.1) I received a similar message:

PortalbeApps.com Platform

Unable to connect to PortableApps.com to retrieve portable apps. Please try again later. [ Server Error (503) ]

In my case, however, the return code is "503 Service Unavailable". In Wireshark looked to be accessing http://portableapps.com/updater/update.php when it received the error, but when I tried that with a browser I was redirected to https://portableapps.com/updater/update2.7z .

Anyone else seeing the issue, or is it something I should investigate on my end?

Thank you for your time. Stay safe.

Internet Explorer

The only browser that matters when checking if you can connect is Internet Explorer. It also uses the Windows internet components and will see errors if misconfigured.

Please note that your error has nothing to do with the original report in this thread. It was an outdated Wine install on Linux causing the issue.
