I want to run one OBSPortable.exe that is broadcasting to Twitch and is capturing my Desktop. And then I want to run another OBSPortable.exe at the same time that is broadcasting to YouNow and is using OBS.ninja on my tablet's browser as a camera source. I want to broadcast to two different streaming services at the same time Twitch and YouNow, and have different video sources for each broadcast. I read online that I can create a OBSPortable.exe shortcut to my Desktop and then add -multi at the end. I tried it, but it wouldn't let me run two instances at the same time. I had actually already tried copying the OBSPortable folder, making a duplicate, and renaming the second one to OBSPortable (YouNow). And then I tried the Desktop shortcut -multi trick for both installations. It still wouldn't let me open up a second instance. I am not getting any warning messages. It just refuses to open. What am I doing wrong?
I believe the guild you mentioned is assuming you have one installed and one portable, which I think works in the configuration mentioned. The portable version is configured for single app instance.
Looking it over, I think it will work with separate instances, to try it out, explore to the OBSPortable\App\AppInfo\Launcher directory and open the file OBSPortable.ini. Change the SinglePortableAppInstance and SingleAppInstance entries to be false instead of true. Do this with both portable instances. See if that works out for you and let me know, please.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
It seems to be working. Thank you. First, I duplicated my entire OBSPortable folder and renamed it to OBSPortable (YouNow). The original installation is for Twitch only. Then I went to the file you instructed me to and made the changes you told me to make. I did that for both installations. I didn't have to add -multi in Properties in the shortcuts. I just kept both the shortcuts the same. The problem that I ran into was that the second installation didn't have my settings and profile from my first installation even though I had copied the entire installation folder. So I found the settings profile in my first installation and copied it over to the second installation. I actually had to create two extra folders because they hadn't been created yet. And now I am running both OBS exe's at the same time. I was even able to pin the second installation exe to my taskbar without using PortableApps.com. I have to play around with this some more, but it at first glance it really seems to be working. Thank you so much!
