some apps not available

What would cause some apps not to be available on some machines? Specifically:
..Win 10 machine: Apps > Get More Apps; Irfanview not found, XNView found and installed
..different Win 10 machine: Apps > Get More Apps; XNView not found; Irfanview found and installed

(Love them both. Irfanview is superior for picture adjustments/tweaks and interface with printers. XNView has the better sorting table thumbnails display.)

Thank you - shu

Both fine here, exact error

Both work fine here on Windows 10. The apps are properly on our server and the entries in the updater database are correct. So, it's something on your end. Please post the exact error you're seeing. You can hit CTRL-C with a message box focused in Windows to copy the text out of it.

Thanks for reply. There is

Thanks for reply. There is no error message. On this machine I have XNViewPortable installed and working.

PortableApps menu: Apps > Get More Apps > by Title; Irfanview simply is not there. Should be between "Iron" and "Inkscape." Nor does Irfanview show in display by Category (Graphics and Pictures).

Likely Installed and Hidden

You likely have it installed but hidden. Right click any app and select Show Hidden Icons.

No - but I see how "hidden" works; nice feature

If the program (e.g. Irfanview) were installed and hidden, there would be a subdirectory for it (C:\PortableApps\Irfanview).
Problem is: Irfanvew cannot be selected for install because it does not appear among the apps available for install. On that selection menu installed apps do appear with grey checkmark in grey checkbox. Irfanview nowhere to be found.)

Have four Win 10 machines, all 64bit. Two have IrfanviewPortable installed by PortableApps. The other two machines, Irfanview simply does not appear on the list of available apps for install.

Something - perhaps in Windows - is telling PortableApps "No, that cannot be installed here, so do not even show it."

(Nice to be able to "hide" app icons. I use LibreOffice Writer and Calc, but not Base, Draw, Impress, or Math. Thanks for the clue how to clean up the clutter.)

Directory Existing

The updater uses the existence of an IrfanViewPortable directory within your PortableApps directory to determine whether or not to show it as available regardless of what is contained in that directory. If the directory doesn't exist, it will be shown. Unless something else was changed. Did you somehow turn on open source apps only in options?

Bingo! That Fixed it.

Tousend Dank. Mil Gracias.

During several iterations of adding apps to Win10 machines in the house, must have flipped the "Open Source" switch in some. ("Not sure what this does, but looks like a good idea.") As a test, I shall go to the remaining Win10 machine that lacks Irfanview, check that the "Open Source" switch is on, create a ../PortableApps/IrfanviewPortable directory, and see what happens.

I very much like programs as portables. Maybe a control freak thing; .ini and .config stuff not hidden in strange places. Easier to keep a clean house after installing a program just for evaluation. There is some inconvenience - maybe manually setting the default app by filename extension, creating a startup shortcut; but the tradeoff is worth it. Thanks again.
