I run portable on several different sticks for several different reasons, depends on whether I am a network tech, hardware/software tech, or just general office drudge. I would like to put a header on the menu page so that I can tell which stick I have loaded without unloading and looking at the label on the underside of the stick.
How can I do this?

In the upper right, you can hover your mouse pointer and click the box that appears add a personal picture to every menu. It's a 48x48 BMP, JPG, or PNG. For PNGs, alpha transparency is supported.

In addition to what John's mentioned, you can also set different themecolours for your various drives.
I’m not near my pc atm, but the Carbide thumb drive included some code within the portable apps folder that set their logo on the platform display. It was one folder that contained a tiny .bmp image and a configuration file. I tried to replicate it to display my own text, but the image manipulation was beyond my skills. I have upgraded to a newer drive but my platform still displays carbide, where the picture JTH mentions would be
Inside PortableApps>PortableApp.com is a folder named OEM. In that folder is a 120X35 .png image of the carbide logo, named oemlogo_topright. An .ini or configuration file is contained contained here too. Named oem it contains the code:

theme_name=NONE
DO NOTE CARBIDE is a trademark and I’m not sure if this code is copyrighted or not. I’m sure the .png image is.
This feature is only for OEM partners. Changing stuff there yourself could make the platform unable to update.

Thanks for the help but I am using cruzer glide usb sticks. But I figured out the picture and color item. Color does not help if your color blind like me!
You may also try some theme combinations:
Default dark or Default light + Silver
Silver theme does not look like gray, white or black themes, even in monochrome environment.
