I'm planning on making a Vista themed menu for the new PortableApps Menu. It will have glass and I hope to include icons and other stuff.\
Hopefully it won't take that long to make, so I'll update this when its ready.
EDIT
Its ready!
I am including two versions in this release, a glass, and a non-glass version. Just download the .zip and extract it to your usb, not in the PortableApps menu folder. To choose which version of the menu you want, go to \PortableApps\PortableAppsMenu\App\DefaultData and rename your style to Theme. Enjoy.
you figure out a way to do the glass on PAM?
I'm guessing it's just a gradient.
Quite easy to do plastic and glass in Photoshop.

but I don't think you can do semi-trans with this skinning engine
Well... it turns out that glass is a no no... unless someone can tell me how to make the menu use a gif instead of a jpg for the background...
I think I'm just going to make a nice looking Vista menu without glass...
Oh well...
I think I might be able to help you out. It's a dirty method but it can be done.
If you are interested...
I am very interested lol
what IM can I contact you on?

I'll give you details on there
Doing non-transparent glass has been done before. The trick is transparent glass, which I'm afraid won't work all that well without at least a proper alpha channel. Being able to use Vista's native glass effects would be a plus (but would make it more difficult to maintain a consistent look across all platforms).
Signature automatically removed for being too awesome.
I find transparant menus and windows a real pain, it just makes the window messy. Now Vista style glass with the item behind blurred then thats fine. That seperate the foreground from the background.
Ok, so I finally got transprancy to work... but it does not look that nice.. so I think that I will include 2 versions, a glass, and a non... its almost done.
I didnt think you would like it, but thats all you can do with this engine
Its ready!! see first post!
What's it look like on Vista? Screenshot?
Looks good, I really like the Icons, did you get them from somewhere or make them yourself?
I got them from the vista icon pack v3, which you can use the icons for anything as long as they are free.. go google it, its a good pack.
I can't see it! The blue doesn't go well with the white. Maybe try a darker shade of blue?
ok, I'll think of something there...
where is the transparentStyle - when there is one it dosn't function by me.
NICE GREATS form DE
GREAT! But how do I activate it, or what folder do I put it in to make it overwrite my regular theme?
copy the files to
F:/PortableApps/PortableAppsMenu/App/DefaultData/Theme/

It doesn't seem to do anything?...

It's something like version 2? I don't know if it's the latest, I'll check.
It's beta version 3 (pre-release 2)
Ok i did everything like it said i even tried deleting my original theme folder and it still is using the old theme. Any ideas?
With GeoffB...I did exactly what he did and I'm still using the red theme, I have the Beta version 3 too...:S
extract to the drive or folder which contains the "portableapps" folder?
Don't forget you have to go through the directories to copy and paste which theme you want..

I'm not sure what I was doing wrong, but I got all the icons and the theme working correctly.
Ok i extracted straight to the drive which asked me to copy and replace all the files that i had with the ones in the zip. I also went to the directory and changed it's name to THEME. Not sure what else I'm supposed to do.
This is what I did, I'm not exactly sure it's perfewctly right, but ir works. After reading this, click on this link.

Once you go to that link posted by John Haller, you'll see you links at the bottom of his post.
Download.......1.0.2. (Pre-release 2)
What I did was save/extract those files to F:PortableApps/PortableApps/PortableApp Menu.
Once they are extracted, also in his post, you'll see, a link for a theme download named theme or something. (or use whatevber theme you want.) Extract the theme to F:PortableApps/PortableApps/PortableApps Menu/App/Default Data/Theme/. Or to make it less confusing, extract the theme to F:PortableApps/PortableApps and open it up, copy the Theme, backroundtop, and drive slider (3 parts) to F;PortableApps/PortableApps/PortableApps Menu/App/Default Data/Theme. Delete the existing original red theme, and restart the portable apps menu, and you're good to go. Sorry, that may be slightly confusing. But I don't have much time to word and check it.
This is my favorite theme!! I just think the drive space slider should be gray instead of blue..then it'd be perfect ^(*-*)^
