starting Portable Apps results in error I/O error 1392

after system reboot after a unexpected power outage I recieve the error message "I/O error 1392" with OK button. Clicking OK message window disappears, no PA window visible.
Task Manager shows PortableApps.com (32bit) and child task PortableApps.com Menu task in the task list.
PortableApps is not accessible.

Steps taken so far.
Closed all tasks and start again - same error
disconnected USB-drive, reconnected and start - same error
system rebooted - same error
downloaded PA platform installer 22.0.1 and repaired existing installation - same error

System Windows 8.1 64bit

any idea, error message not listed on support site, no results in search

Many thanks

suspected problem and solution

I did some more research on the problem and eventually got it fixed for now.

As it looks the power outage has caught the PA application while writing to its log file "PortableAppsPlatform.log" damaging the file. That was easy fixed by scanning and repairing my USB-Drive. Then I deleted the remaining file fragment.
PA Platform started with no problem. BUT created that file again and within about six hours is increased in files size to ~9.3MB.
The majority of entries reads like:

10.08.2022 13:02:27, Info, frmMenu, "Sorting app list"
10.08.2022 13:02:27, Info, frmMenu, "Displaying app list"
10.08.2022 13:02:27, Info, frmMenu, "Sorting app list"
10.08.2022 13:02:27, Info, frmMenu, "Displaying app list"
10.08.2022 13:02:27, Info, frmMenu, "Sorting app list"
10.08.2022 13:02:27, Info, frmMenu, "Displaying app list"
10.08.2022 13:02:27, Info, frmMenu, "Sorting app list"
10.08.2022 13:02:27, Info, frmMenu, "Displaying app list"

That means the PA Menu App writes 4 entries per second constantly, and why is it sorting the apps in the menu 4 times a second. There is no change on the apps and menu from my side, the PA updater is running once in a while when I reboot my PC.

Can that be fixed or is it really necessary?

For now I have turned of the option "log Platform activity in a text file" under the Advanced tab in the Options.

Install Over

After ensuring the drive is free of errors, I'd suggest downloading the PA.c Installer from our site and running it and performing an upgrade (to the same version) to ensure all files are uncorrupted versions.

In Options => Advanced there

In Options => Advanced there is an option to turn on logging ('log platform events to a text file'). Logging is off by default. Maybe you switched that on unintentionally.Unchecking the box should fix that behavior. You can delete the logfile manually afterwards.

Maybe I should start reading posts to the last paragraph. Biggrin
