- Try updating your extension

- Try updating your extension.
- A good alternative is LanguageTool, that has been added to LO 7.4.x More details → https://extensions.libreoffice.org/en/extensions/show/languagetool.

Try updating your extension ?

In the extension Manager nearly everything is greyed . I can 'Check for updates' and 'Add' , but neither 'Remove' nor 'Disable/Enable' . Fresh multilingual install

Many thanks and best regards,

Norbert

Appologies.

Yes, default extensions don't seem 'updatetable'. I'm updating mine manually, and thought that the German dictionaries will have some up-to-date versions, like the English one, updating every month (https://extensions.libreoffice.org/).

PS. LanguageTool is still a nice alternative.

I tried installation both with and without removing the extra languages

I tried to reproduce the bug, but failed

Hi NorbertK,
I tried to reproduce this, but on my win10/64 machine everything works as expected. Automatic and manual spellchecking work flawless. Maybe some more information is needed to nail down the error.
What I did:

  • a fresh manual install of LibreOffice 7.4.1 Multilingual-standard in a single folder without the platform running.
  • a fresh manual install of LibreOffice 7.4.1 Multilingual-standard in the portableapps folder with the platform running.
  • a fresh install of LibreOffice 7.4.1 from the platform via 'Weitere Anwendungen...'

Everytime I got a working german spellchecking.
Did you anything different from that?

I installed with a PAF.EXE -File with platform running

LibreOfficePortable_7.4.1_MultilingualStandard.paf.exe. Portable Apps n German. With and without removing of extraneous languages.

Windows 10 in German, verified in 2 boxes, one of tem quite fresh. I even did a 'direct' install withoud PF.EXE but nothing changes. In My Windows setup I have installed english as additional language.

I tried to compare the files in %APPDATA% (of an non-portable editione) with the ones in Portableapps and saw some differences but I don't know what to watch for.

Many thanks and best regards,

Norbert

So, at first glance, the only

So, at first glance, the only difference seems to be the additional system language. Maybe that interferes, but I don't know the mechanics behind that or if anything has changed. A quick search with google found some bug reports with documents in other languages. Is your LibreOffice installation in german or in english.
You did a non-portable install of LibreOffice 7.4.1. on the same machine, I guess? That does work?
Sorry that I cannot provide a solution, but the more detailed information John gets, the better he can destinguish, if it's a bug or a setup error.

The non-portable Version does work

No problem, I am eager to provide any help I can.

For the time being i use the 'still' version which works fine.

Many thanks and best regards,

Norbert

The Still Version works fine

Sorry, I forgot to mention. German spellchecking in the still version (7.3.6 ) works fine

Many thanks and best regards,

Norbert
