OpenShot - crash at startup

The application crashes at startup. A regular "Application has stopped working" error message shows up.
Tested on Windows 7 x64.

Run directly?

Please try running the app directly in local mode within app\openshot to see if it's an use with the app itself. Most publishers don't seem to test on windows 7 any longer.

Crash when launching Openshot on Windows 7 x64

Thanks @John.

I have tried as you say but the same thing keeps happening. For informational purposes, the home screen of the interface is displayed when the crash message appears.

I have tried to run from paths:
C:\OpenShotPortable\OpenShotPortable.exe
C:\OpenShotPortable\App\OpenShot64\openshot-qt.exe
C:\OpenShotPortable\App\OpenShot64\openshot-qt-cli.exe

In all cases crash message appears:

Base App Issue, Downgrade

I experience the same behavior in a Windows 7 virtual machine with both the 32-bit and 64-bit packages. I tried the daily build of Openshot (what the publisher recommends when reporting a bug) and it does not have the same issue. So, it's likely a known issue and is fixed in the upcoming release. In the meantime you can downgrade to the 2.6.1 release. You can optionally rename the directory from OpenShotPortable to OpenShotPortableLegacy to prevent the platform from offering to update it if you'd like.

Note that it appears the publisher didn't test in Windows 7 before releasing. You'll need to be aware of this being an issue now that Windows 7 has been end of lifed and many publishers are moving on to tools that don't support Windows 7/8.

It will be fixed in the next release

Thanks John, after your reply I have checked the OpenShot github and there are several users reporting the issue. A developer has reported that a minor production release will follow later this month.
Happy New Year!

Is there any plan to

Is there any plan to introduce support for DEV-BUILDS of Open Shot in PortableApps? The application hasn't been updated since the beginning of December, last year. It's been 5 months since the latest release which is bugged and doesn't work with Windows 7. It is said it was fixed in daily builds a while ago but as there is no new stable release there is no way to get it working with PortableApps.
