I'm not sure how you'd go about it but, I use a custom icon for my PortableApps folder and I'd love it if the PortableApps Platform would stop changing it every time it updates.

Are you changing it by replacing the ICO files included with the platform or by editing the desktop.ini within the Documents folder? I could probably have the installer check for a change to the latter and preserve the file. I already have checks for this when installed to the %PROFILE% directory.

I change it via folder Properties > Customise > Change Icon.
Ok, I see. I'll look into either preserving that or allowing it to be set via another route so it is preserved on updates. I'll update this thread if and when it's implemented and released. It's posted in our platform bug/feature tracker with a link back to this thread.

Thanks John, I appreciate you looking into it.
I've added the ability for the platform installer to preserve customizations as of today's release of PortableApps.com Platform 29.2.

Thanks, John, I've just updated to the latest v29.2 and it still changed my custom folder icon.
Ok, so somehow I managed to take your original question and write it down and code it as 'I want to have custom folder icons for Documents, Music, Video, Pictures'. So, that's what's in 29.2. Nothing about a PortableApps folder. Sorry about that. I'll work on getting that into the next release. Incidentally, what are you changing it to? Different color versions to keep different installs straight?

Looking forward to the next release. I use an icon that is a folder with the portable apps logo on it.
Ok, *NOW* the requested preservation is included in today's release of 29.2.1.

Thanks, John, for taking the time to add this feature. It's much appreciated.
