Hello folks
I've had a problem for some time with KeePassXC in that the program doesn't quit properly. If I quit KeePassXC (and I do mean close the program, not just the window) and then try to shut down the computer via the PortableApps platform, I get a message saying KeePassXC is still running. This prevents the shutdown, or at least prevents the PA platform from closing.
My solution is to open the Task Manager and 'kill' KeePassXC manually. When looking in Task Manager, I've noticed that the KeePass appears either in the 'Apps' section, under 'PortableApps.com Platform (32 bit)', or it may appear in the 'Background processes' section. I think it tends to appear in the latter more often.
There are normally two processes still running. One is simply 'KeePassXC' and the other is 'KeePassXC Portable (PortableApps.com Launcher) (32 bit)'.
Any thoughts on why this is occurring or how it may be remedied? It is happening on both my Windows 10 and Windows 11 machines. I have KeePassXC installed on the local hard drive (not a USB drive).
Thanks

That's an issue with the base app, though I'm not sure what it would be. Are you using any plugins or any settings changed?
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!
Thanks John.
No plugins but I have made a few changes to the settings over time. I can't remember exactly what these have been other than browser integration. I don't see an option to revert to default settings so I might try deleting the program and using a clean install, then see what happens.

Mmmm. Just a quick update. I tried uninstalling KeePassXC via the PA platform but got an error message saying it could not be uninstalled. I restarted the platform with the intention of trying again and found that the icon for KPXC had gone. It looks like the program has in fact uninstalled however there is still a 'KeePassXCPortable' folder on my drive under 'PortableApps'. There are also some files there which are nested in a sub-folder (2 layers down). I'm going to delete the lot.
I've been using a clean install of KPXC for a few days with the following result: the first time I quit the program after re-installing, I encountered the problem described in my original post. All subsequent attempts (about 2 or 3 per day) have caused no problem.
I will now start making changes to the settings - one a day, every few days - to see if I can isolate a cause. I'll start with browser integration. Although given the fact that the problem already occurred once, I'm not sure how informative this will be.
I'm not 100% sure but I think I found the problem. There is a setting in KPXC to 'Minimise instead of app exit' which I have previously had active (checked/ticked). If I leave this option unchecked, the problem goes away.
As I say, it's not completely failsafe and I've had one or two problems quitting the program even when this option is not active. However, the occurrences of the problem are few and far between so it's an acceptable 'solution' to the problem.
Just thought you might like to know.
Thanks
