Update Google Chrome Portable

Is there a way to update Google Chrome Portable ? For example, from version 113.0.5672.127 to version 114.0.5735.110 without having to delete all the data in that Chrome Portable (like cookies, extensions, history, ...) ?

I tried deleting the "App" folder in that Chrome Portable and replacing it with the latest Chrome Portable's "App" folder. Is this way effective? Other than this, is there a way to update without the error message "An error occurred while checking for updates: Update check failed to start (error code 1: 0x80004005).
Learn more" ?

Upgrading

Upgrading has always been the same process and has never required deleting your Data:

The Chrome updater does not work portably. Never has. This was explained in detail in the other thread you posted.

"Upgrading a Portable App

"Upgrading a Portable App
PortableApps.com Platform Updater (Recommended) - To upgrade your apps using the platform's built-in updater, just select Help and then Check for Updates. The platform will inform you what apps are out of date and offer to automatically download and install the updated versions.

PortableApps.com Platform Manual - To upgrade a portable app from the PortableApps.com Platform manually, first, make sure the app isn't open. Then, click Apps and then Install a New App. In the window that comes up, click the Install button. Then, browse to the AppNamePortable_x.x.paf.exe file you downloaded and select it. Now, follow the on-screen prompts if there are any. The Platform takes care of letting the installer know where to install to. All of your current settings and data will be preserved.

Standalone - To upgrade a portable app manually without the PortableApps.com Platform, just browse to the location of the AppNamePortable_x.x.paf.exe file you downloaded. Double-click the file to start the installation. Follow the on-screen prompts and select the location you'd like to install to. For upgrades, you should select the parent directory of the AppNamePortable directory in which the app is currently installed. For example, if the app is within X:\PortableApps\AppNamePortable, you'd want to select the X:\PortableApps directory in the Browse Folder window. After clicking OK, it should show X:\PortableApps\AppNamePortable. All of your current settings and data will be preserved."

I've read the entire article, but it's quite confusing. Really need a video for this updated tutorial. For example, with Google Chrome Portable, I have downloaded the latest Google Chrome Portable from the website and have this folder. And now, how do I update others old Google Chrome Profiles? And "browse to the AppNamePortable_x.x.paf.exe" , ... mean? It confused me quite a bit

Confusing

If the above is confusing, I would suggest not using portable apps standalone. If you're unable to determine the path an app is downloaded to when you download it in a browser, I would definitely not recommend using portable apps standalone. If you use them with the PA.c Platform, it is all automatic.

Unless of course English is your second language. Browse and explore are synonymous. Browse is the label used on the button in NSIS in the installer. You use Windows Explorer and open your Download folder and then run the .paf.exe installer. When you install, you manually select your X:\Whatever\Path folder when you have Google Chrome Portable installed to your X:\Whatever\Path\GoogleChromePortable folder. After you click OK on the Browse window, the installer will add GoogleChromePortable to the end of the path.
