Thunderbird Portable Beta 117b3 issue

I installed TBird 116 Test a few days ago, and it updated successfully through a first 117 version to the current 117.0b3. But today I noticed that if I double-click a message in my Archives folder (in Local Folders), a Composition (Write) window opens, instead of a reading tab or window. This happens on both my office desktops, both Windows 11 Pro 22h2 2134, with Thunderbird Beta Test installed to my programs & data drive, not on my C:\ drive on either PC. I have checked on Windows Eleven Forum with several of my colleagues there who are running 117.0b3, but the installed version, and none of them are experiencing this. I haven't seen any comments on this on the Thunderbird Bugs Discussion, either, so I'm wondering whether it's possible that something about the portable is making my Local Folders folder behave as though it's a Drafts folder. Ctrl-o works as expected with this folder, as does a right-click, choose Open message in a new Tab/window, but the double-click on a message always opens a Write window.

Try Profile on Local

We don't accept bug reports on beta releases unless it is confirmed to be a portablization issue. You'll need to test your profile which is experiencing the issue on a local install. Or do a completely clean install of Beta 117 (now available). I was unaware it had been released. It's always released late compared to stable unlike Firefox.

I moved this to the Thunderbird forum. The Beta forum is only for beta testing portable launchers and packages that are in beta. Thunderbird Portable is a stable launcher and installer packaging a beta channel release of Thunderbird. A unique setup.

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

You were right.

Did the install of your new portable of 117.0b3 and tried the old profile. Same faulty behavior when opening archived messages.
Scrapped that profile and made a new one. Perfect in every way. Thanks for the advice, and thanks for the new 117 Beta Portable.

To those who have none, even a little knowledge of computing seems like wizardry.
