This is a reason why I made an account here, I just want to fix the error once and for all
A few months ago, I tried updating the PortableApps.com Platform, but for some reason I can't update it, ended up deleting everything and starting over, I still have it
I tried asking Reddit twice, I Googled it, and even asked my dad, nothing worked and I still have this issue
Manually updating and installing still works, but I don't really want to do that
On my other PCs (Old House #1 & #2) I can update and even install new apps, but I can't do any of that in my main PC
Please, can anyone who has more that two brain cells help me, I don't want to get my computer taken away for a stupid reason

You are using an antivirus/firewall that blocks background downloads? Are you using a proxy? These are usually the factors that prevent updates.
Temporarily disable those software and try again.
Eventually you can try to update the platform manually.
- Close the platform (and any software/launchers still running)
- Download the setup
- Select the same folder where the outdated version is and install the newer version (older files will be overwritten).
If your platform's files are corrupted, you may move/delete the
x:\…\PortableApps\PortableApps.com\Datafolder, to reset the platform to its defaults. It's like to make a fresh installation without touching your installed apps.IMHO. This will only update the platform and won't edit corrupted files.

Yes, of course. I didn't specify it but that was the sense (I didn't mean that it would overwrite the settings but the files that were not updated). The purpose of the user was precisely to update the platform and not to reset the settings.
He did not communicate the eventual resolution of the problem.
My suggestion is valid for a desktop installation, where the Platform files may be corrupt. A reset removes residual bugs where an update does not.
PS. Let's wait for more details.

Previously I simply tried to help out, by the way it is a rather old discussion. The user probably hasn't logged in for a while. I have been quoted and responded, mine was (and is) a peaceful discussion and not a provocative one. Not sure what your point is here.
Judging by his inactivity I don't think the user he will respond.
I've checked for new/updated topics and found this thread. Of course, I did not check the date, etc.
Only wanted to give a brief answer, different from yours in the case of it will help differently.
