Category wrong in Appinfo.ini as Internet, should be Utilities.
(hopefully we will get sub-categories for Utilities soon as mentioned here https://portableapps.com/node/35047#comment-200761 - at the moment I change Utilities to Utilities - System, Utilities - Disk, Utilities - File etc., quite a lot of work)

how to set this app to be automatically updated via the platform
Unfortunately, this app is still in the development test stage, so you'll have to keep a lookout here for app updates. If this ever gets an official release, then the platform will check for updates automatically.
Any chance that Bulk Rename Utility can be updated to the latest version as there is a bug in the current version that stops it working on Windows 8?
