Hello
I've noticed since the update to v5.4 that GnuCash does not quit cleanly. That is, when I close the program there are processes that continue to run. This prevents the PortableApps platform from closing because I have 'Close Apps On Platform Exit' selected in the options. It also causes a problem in OneDrive which reports a 'sync error' on a GnuCash log file. I assume this is because the log file is being seen as still in use by one of the running processes.
The processes are:
Gnucash Portable (PortableApps.com Launcher) (32 bit)
GnuCash Program File (32 bit)
Anyone having similar problems or know how to fix this? I'm on Windows 10 Pro, btw.
Cheers
Paul vP
It's an issue with GnuCash 5.4 itself and not something we can fix on our end.

OK, thank you.
Fixed mine by running the program in compatibility mode to Windows 8.
I rolled back to 5.3 and the problem went away.
Thankfully I keep a few weeks worth of backups of my PortableApps and was able to do that. I don't see a way to obtain older versions of apps through this site.
I did not try using the official windows installer version of 5.4 from the offical GnuCash website to see if the issue persists when you aren't using the portable version.

Thanks everyone. I've rolled back to v5.3 also and it appears to have solved the issue.
I had trouble finding much information on this on the web but from what I can tell the problem has been solved in v5.4.1. So when PA releases this version (or later), all should be well :).
5.4.1 hasn't been released. The current Windows release is 5.4-1 which has this issue.

Yes, I too had the same problem. To make matters worse, my money file is on a virtual drive that will not dismount if applications are running on files. I remedied my issue using the 'Compatibility Mode'. I launched the Windows Task Manager and searched for gnucash. Two 'background' processes were found. I right-clicked on them and selected running the program compatible to Windows 8. Not sure what feature it disabled, but now the 5.4 version exits cleanly each time.

Supposedly this will be fixed in the next release.

Just thought I'd mention that running in Windows 8 compatibility mode did not resolve the issue for me :(.
So it's not a universal fix I guess.

GnuCash Portable 5.5 released, and does not have this problem.
I couldn't get the PortableApps launcher to successfully download the update; I had to manually grab it from the site, but it's working.
Yes, I'm having the same issue - can't update via the PortableApps platform as the verification keeps failing. If I download the file and install it 'manually', is that the same as updating through the PA platform? Or is the failure to verify perhaps indicating a problem with the file?
Same!
