Hello,
I am running Windows 10 64-bit. Starting recently, Windows defender is flagging Notepad++ portable (version 8.6) as Trojan:Win64/Malgent!MSR and putting it in quarantine when I try to run it. I have reinstalled a couple of times, but it now catches the file during the installation process.
This isn't a blocking issue for me, but I wanted to let you know.
Thanks!
Confirm the blocking, I have the same problem
The false positive has been reported to Microsoft.

If you look on virustotal you will find some other malware is using notepad++ portable as an attack vector, which is causing the issue as the heuristics are picking it up.
Look at the relations tab
That's not unusual. Malware folks take legit software and repackage it with nasties pretty regularly.

Same problem with Windows Defender.
What are the options for me to solve this problem? just waiting and restore every time?
same... Odd. as this happened here with the latest update to 8.6
I also have an older version on a separate install that is just fine for Defender.. shrugs..
@coolbuster: you can restore the executable within Defender.
I've just seen this too.

This issue is fixed in Notepad++ Portable 8.6 Rev 2

Thanks, John!
Confirmed.
Just 5 minutes ago with v8.6 it was quarantined.
After update to v8.6 rev2 no just now, no more detection from Windows Defender.
Thank you
