I select View>Toolbars> Menu Bar to get the Menu Bar. However, after I restart Thunderbird Portable v102.15.1 (64 bit) it is gone. I need to re-add it each time after restarting.
How can I save the Menu Bar so that it is still there after restarting?
EDIT: I have no Add-Ons enabled, but when I start Thunderbird in Troubleshoot Mode, the Menu Bar is there.
I don't know the solution to your problem but would suggest that you post the issue into mozillaZine Forums. Just be sure to mention you are using Thunderbird Portable.
Another thing you could try is switching from Thunderbird to Betterbird. I use Betterbird Portable myself and it works just fine.
I would though note that you are using an old version of Thunderbird. Better to move on to "Supernova" (or Betterbird "Superstar") I think.
Use Portable Apps on both Flash Drive and HDD/SSD.
Thank you for your response.
I just "fixed" the issue. I reinstalled the Portable version and moved the profile. The problem is gone. I don't understand why this worked, but it did....
I am using the older 102 version because of an Add-on, Mailbox Alert (https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/thunderbird/addon/mailbox-alert/), which only works with v102 and below.
I would assume that Betterbird does not have the missing Alert features? I need pop-up alerts for specific folders and/or when specific messages arrives.
Yes, I was using Mailbox Alert too on 102 and the Betterbird equivalent. I had to kiss it goodbye for now, though I live in hope that the developer will recode it to work in Supernova/Superstar.
Betterbird is a soft fork of Thunderbird, meaning that extensions that work in Thunderbird should also work in Betterbird. So, again, I'm waiting on a recode of Mailbox Alert. The advantage of Betterbird is that the maintainer does iron out some bugs that Thunderbird developers don't do themselves.
Use Portable Apps on both Flash Drive and HDD/SSD.
I think that the Mailbox Alert author stated that he will not recode the Add-on because it was too much work :-(.
I downloaded and run Betterbird Portable. Is there some way to point it to use the Profile in Thunderbird Portable?
p.s. Sorry for digressing from the OT.
I think we should not discuss Betterbird portable on this site. The Betterbird portable launcher expects the profile in the same directory. You could do a Windows hard link to another profile (if you know how to do that), but it's not recommended, or more precisely, you will run into trouble since absolute paths are stored in the profile. So take a copy of an existing profile. If you supply the last-profile-location.txt file with the location of where you copied it from, the launcher will even update those absolute paths in the profile.
@jorgk,
Do you know where can I get support for Betterbird? I am not sure that I understood your answer, but I think that you suggested to add the path to the Thunderbird Portable profile in a text file called "last-profile-location.txt". I assume that this file should reside in the Betterbird folder? However, I cannot find it...
Betterbird has a website and a support e-mail. The portable has this after you first run it: https://imgur.com/a/56ddgRf
I can't find any support options on their website; e.g. no support forum.
I did not get the txt file after the first (or subsequent) runs. Here is what I have:

I even tried to add the txt file manually and add the absolute path to the Thunderlink portable profile, but it didn't work.
EDIT: I think that "last-profile-location.txt" may be a v 115 feature? I am running v102.x
Thus, it may not be possible to run the same Portable Profile from BB and TB? I have to create copy, which means that they will be out of sync...
Yes, 115 from Sept. 2023.
