Seems like every time I update the platform, I keep getting an error when updating that:
Error opening file for writing:
E:/PortableApps/PortableApps.com/App/7-Zip/7za.com
Then gives me the option to abort, retry, or ignore. So I ignore. Goes ahead and installs the suite, but then won't update afterwards any of the programs.

There is no such file in the PA.c Platform nor has there ever been. Did you mean 7za.exe? I would highly suggest scanning the drive for viruses and then scanning it for drive errors. Then manually deleting the contents of that directory. Then doing a manual platform upgrade by downloading the platform installer and running it and selecting to Upgrade your E drive install.
