Dev-PHP is a well-featured integrated development environment (IDE).
Licensed under the GNU General Public License, it comes from source forge, source can be found here.
- Dev-PHP doesn't need any launcher because it is PortableApps compliant : the program detects the portableapps directory structure, then works accordingly. However, Dev-PHP still needs a paf installer
- The "paf" installer [ 8.16 MB ] only contains the Dev-PHP program, all configuration files, one PHP compiled help file, and two small projects. It doesn't contain any PHP environment.
- Portable PHP environment [ 8.23 MB ] (doesn't belong to Dev-PHP, included for convenience) embeds PHP 5.2.0 [02-Nov-2006] and PHP-GTK 1.0.2, Both environments include their own fully functional Xdebug component. This "installer" is simply a standard 7-zip sfx which must be extracted to the root of a usb device.
Thanks for your reports,
Pierre.

Portable PHP version with current software versions?
I would like to check it out.
PHP 5.2.1
PHP-GTK 2.0.0 alpha for GTK+ 2.6.9+
Best regards,
René
Hi René,
PHP 5.2.1
I understand, but Dev-PHP is also using Xdebug. IMHO, Xdebug has not yet build its 5.2.1 version
PHP-GTK 2.0.0 alpha for GTK+ 2.6.9+
I believe that this is too much experimental - which PHP version should we use : 5.1.*, 5.2.*
By the way... you didn't report if Dev-PHP portable was working, did you ?
Best regards,
Pierre.
since weeks:
http://pecl4win.php.net/ext.php/php_xdebug.dll
I see no alternative to PHP 5.2.1.
PHP 5.0.x and PHP 5.1.x are not supported any more.
Look at http://www.php.net/:
"Current PHP 5 Stable: 5.2.1"
Or look at the current TODO items for the Zend Core team:
http://oss.backendmedia.com/PhP52
http://oss.backendmedia.com/PhP53
Look at http://www.gtk.org/download/:
"The current stable version of GTK+ is 2.10."
So there will be no more GTK 1.x or PHP-GTK 1.x releases.
Who said I wanted to check out Dev-PHP Portable right now?
First of all we need a reliable, current and portable PHP, placed under PortableApps\CommonFiles\PHP to allow very small and useful portable applications.
After we have that, we can test yet another PHP IDE
Best regards,
René
Hi René,
This is *not* about "PHP portable"
If there is such an app, Dev-PHP can connect to it, in a very simple manner :
Menu Options » General options » Parser-Tab (the third one from the left
Just enter the path to a php-cgi.exe
Click on the "Ok" button.
Where could one find some docs about PortableApps\CommonFiles\ ?
Thanks for your report,
Pierre.
language? love to see it in english
love to see it in english
Of course
Menu Options » General options » Extra-Tab
First item in the grid is "Dev-PHP i18n"
Click on the '...' button to set your preferred language
You can also download then set a best PHP.chm
From the combo named "CHM", select 'PHP', then click on download
Actually this will send you to http://php.net/download-docs.php
There, select one of the CHM (please, don't use extended html)
Once downloaded, set the second row of the grid accordingly
then set the language of the chm file
Click on the "Ok" button.
By the way, Dev-PHP supports about 18 languages
I see that now. works great
for the launcher?
Also, Sourceforge says not to host downloads on the website.

There is no laucher. It is the program itself. The sources are here (on the project page there's a link to the subversion server). No source provided for the installer, however here is the used
method to build it.
Also, Sourceforge says not to host downloads on the website
Really Could you please show where it is said ? Then I'll fix that asap.
This is only a beta version - means very few testers - very few downloads
Anyway, you can download from an alternate site
paf, PHPs
Regards,
Pierre.
