Next button breaks hours of selection

I selected 100 apps, pressed next and download started. That was a shock.
No way to pause or cancel. Being poor most of the downloads failed 6 hours later due to bandwidth congestion and thus the hours of selection (comparing last updated dates) were lost. YES this is a fault.

FAULT
[Next] should be renamed [Download] instead of simply hiding this information in the support page where it is too late for poor people. Tying up their net for hours with regets unless they reboot.

Also a [cancel] downloads button would avoid a reboot (or killing a process if skilled enough). Kill process is not as failover safe as cancel.

FEATURE request
Practically [Pause] and [Resume] downloads buttons would be useful. If it can only restart half downloaded apps instead of resuming that its still a huge, huge improvement. That way I can resume the selected list at 11pm when the net is fast enough. Yes it means saving the selection list state...

Yes it would be lovely to have geeky friends share text selection lists (the state) of recommended apps for 1 touch download of the lot in the most current form.

Coming, but no ETA

Pause, resume, cancel, and app list export/import functionality are already in our Platform bug and feature tracker, but we can't say when they will be available.

The updater needs to be completely rewritten from scratch to be able to do those things due to limitations of the current language it is written in, and right now John is the only working on that side of things while also keeping apps updated and running everything behind the scenes.

First Mention

Oddly, this is the first mention of confusion over the Next button since the app store was released over a decade ago. I could change it to Install pretty easily or Download with a few lines of code, though. Not sure what others think.

As for pausing, I could add a confirmation dialog when you click cancel. That would essentially pause things while you decide whether to cancel or continue. Would that be helpful until the whole thing is rewritten to have the fully fledged pause/resume functionality?

Yes^2

Download & Install looks better IMO. An AIO concept!
A Pause/Resume button also looks nice! People may pause and resume when facebookers free the net!

Spacing

I'll need to resize the button to do that which may get weird in terms or RTL languages. It's one of NSIS' built in buttons. I'm leading towards install since that's what most app stores use (Apple, Android, etc) when they mean download and install.

I agree!

The download is required for the installation and isn't an apart feature.

Install Button

As of PA.c Platform 29.4, the Next button on that page has been switched to an Install button across all languages.

I tested out using the downloader's cancel button as a pause by showing a confirmation. Unfortunately the download continues in the background. So, I can't implement a pause until the rewrite.
