Hi.
Is there a possibility to tell Thunderbird Portable to open links in Firefox Portable?
I usually use the portables on systems, where the default browser is IE and would like the links to open in Firefox Portable even thought it is not the default browser.

As with all issues, please search before posting. This has been addressed a number of times. The answer is, for now, you can't. Firefox and Thundebird will ONLY use the system defaults. There is no config to select. There is an extension being worked on that will give us this ability, though.
Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

I've already got this extension created. It needs a fix to the current PT/PFF, but otherwise, it is done. Email me and I will send it to you.
Hi Arrakistor, If the offer's still there I'd like to get a copy of the extension you spoke about. It seems like the perfect fix for a niggling problem I've been having. Is there a way to PM on this forum? I've had a look at your profile and cannot see your email address to contact you directly.

You don't need an extension, since you likely have Portable Firefox and Thunderbird, the machine simply needs to know what application to use to open up the specific extension or URL paramater.
Open up My Computer - assuming on windows I am on XP
Tools > Folder Options > File Types tab
Scroll down until you see URL:HyperText Transfer Protocol - likely got a hand as its icon.
select this and then click advanced - select the open Action and click edit, then browse for the Firefox portable exe - this worked fine for me.
I also did this for NNTP to stop firefox opending up Outlook express all the time - just changed this to open up Thunderbird.

I was able to fix this issue by installing an extension called Launchy and creating a
Launchy.xml file.

how did you go about doing this?
Install the launchy in thunderbird port. or firefox port.
What does your .xml file look like?
If you want to open mail links from Firefox in Thunderbird, install on Firefox. If you want to open webpages from Thunderbird in Firefox, install on Thunderbird.

I have it installed in both firefox and thunderbird. I just had to put the correct path in the example that the link above points too. it leaves out the "PortableApps"

and I changed it to this and it works fine

Of course you need to do it in firefox also
