Unable to start thunderbird after update today 2 May 2025

Thunderbird portable have always been solid for me until this morning. I have always updated to newer versions when prompted and been good except this morning. The installation stalled and my laptop froze up. So I restarted my laptop and tried to run TB but I get these error messages. It did not load at all. Can't seemed to attach image here to show error messages. So error status is 0xc0000020 and "Couldn't load XPCOM".

Hoping to save it instead of having to reinstall because I have more than 40GB of emails. Its imap so emails are still with email hosting provider but will take ages to download agin.

Any help will be appreciated.

Manual Reinstall

This happens when something on your PC was locking files during the update. The fix is to manually update the app again: https://portableapps.com/support/portable_app#upgrading

Sometimes, the impossible can become possible, if you're awesome!

Copying folders

I backed up the PortableApps\ThunderbirdPortable\Data folder and copied it back to a fresh installation of Portableapps and Thunderbird. I started TB and everything looks like back to normal. Is this a stable way or is there a better way to do it?
