This is a major update to GIMP so I wanted to ensure we got a bit of testing in before the general release. Please report your findings, thanks!

I also made a test Resynthesizer plugin for GIMP Portable Test 3.0.2-1 Dev Test 2. Note that if you upgrade from Dev Test 1 to Dev Test 2, you must run it at least once so that it adjusts your paths to the new Data layout before installing this.

Changelog:
2025-05-13: Initial release
2025-05-16: Dev Test 2 to update Data\.gimp to Data\GimpAppData and Data\GimpHome and create all standard plug-in and script directories

Win 7 x64 + VxKex NEXT

GIMP 3.0.2 (+ VxKex NEXT) works like a charm on Win 7 x64.
Made some small tests (doodles) without any issues.

So far so good

Running this on Windows 10. Looks good, I'm editing some photos and it's been working fine so far! Feels faster than Gimp 2.x portable - for example file dialogues are very snappy.

***

I also tried to install a recent non-official Windows binary of ReSynthesizer but wasn't able to get it working.

Edit: looks like ReSynthesizer problematics have already been discussed earlier here: https://portableapps.com/node/61980 - and anyway, this is probably off-topic.

Abandoned ReSynthesizer Plugin

If someone can specifically confirm that ReSynthesizer works in a local install of GIMP 3.0.2-1 64-bit on Windows 10, can outline the exact process to install and test it the plugin, and I can replicate it... I'm not touching that abandoned 18 year old plugin ever again. Smile I wasted hours on it previously only to discover it worked on some GIMP builds but not others with no logical explanation.

Nope

No troubleshooting. No forum back and forths. No read these 10 posts carefully. If someone can gel it to 5 easy steps for local and confirm it is definitely working with 3.0.2-1 64bit on Windows 10, only then am I investing any time into this sinkhole. I spent hours looking at threads just like this previously and am not doing that again for a single plug-in. And it's already a huge percentage of the text on this page that's about testing a new portable build.

UPDATE: It works. I apparently like to stress myself. I figured out that it works with GIMP Portable. You just need to position the stuff correctly. Consulting the new app note about plugin and script locations will help (NOTE These only apply to the current 2.x stable): https://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/gimp_portable#app-notes

UPDATE2: I made a plugin installer for it and added it to the main post
