very interesting!
I will look, thank you! -- but I have a concern -- this doesn't appear to be Build-Desktop-Release #2010, the link I provided, which is the only one I'm interested in -- the database branch, the next generation of the app. The existing markdown app is old and less scalable, and lacks many of the next generation tagging and query features-- It is still in alpha so there's no released zip, but you can get it from that link, selecting the latest desktop build, windows x64, going to 'upload artifacts', and getting that zip. It has the MSI.

We Don't Do Nightlies

That would be a nightly release aka pre-alpha, which would be a mess to maintain a portable package of.

that's true

But the proof of concept beta portable is important to stage a working paf, because the schema is pretty much baked. You could say it's "post" pre-alpha, because it's probably just weeks/couple months away from actually exiting closed alpha, and it's already quite stable as a daily driver for many (some using it >6 months with negligible problems), and it has a predictable sqlite backend. You're the expert, so no doubt, it's early for an official PAF, but a functional beta PAF, made by one of the talented users here? That would be welcome, to examine structure, performance, and test and tinker with.

When It's Beta

From the developer: "WARNING: Logseq DB is still in alpha. Use only at own risk of losing data."

It's really still a nightly as it's sometimes built multiple times per day. Once it's a beta it would be more a target. No reason to beta test a pre-alpha piece of software with multiple daily builds. The point of portable test packages is to specifically test the portablization. We can't do that if the underlying software is a constantly moving target.

Thank you

Just an update - This was posted today, a chart showing development status. While many add-on features (i.e. collaboration, a future "pro" feature". and platforms (like ios or android) are still marked 'alpha', the windows desktop db branch (and the web version as well) is now marked as beta. I can't seem to post a .png here so I'll try to include a link from their discord -

Beta

In that case, it'd be fine for someone to build it as a beta test in the forums. But it likely won't get official until officially released.

Are you aware, that there is

Are you aware, that there is already a Loqseq version here:

No need to add another paf-version. If you think your version has some other adjustments, just post it in this thread, so Peppernrino could add them to his package.

@xmha9 was reposnding

to an idea I had about portablizing the db version so this is different. but there's just some discussion about the branch and version right now. plus. @xmha97 has I think a different approach to the paf, so there's no reason to deny him his own version. And this is beta testing, not official.

woot woot.

people are weird. it's almost like they are here to cause discord on porpoise... oh well. keep using my packages if you don't want to get hacked. lol. someone coming to do a job that's already being done can only be described as suspicious or ignorant. i'm sure they will bring up the idea that i took over the package for VSCodium.... but people were begging for a release, and the person handling that was also a hothead moron, and has left the responsibility behind after slandering the crap out of me. lol. but you're right. who cares anyway? Biggrin

In reply to @Peppernrino

I didn’t know you had already made a portable version of Logseq.
I don’t even use this app myself.
I only did it because @gipper asked me to:

If you think I should remove my package, I will.

up to you, ultimately. lol

i have no idea why people are requesting things that already exist, but neither of us have an obligation to fill those requests. i was pretty happy to have discovered logseq, and i do use it personally. was looking for an open source solution to handling things since obsidian leaves some boxes to be checked, even though it seems to be the darling... and i have tried Joplin... meh.

for the record, everybody should be using Zettlr, lol. logseq is just nice if you also use it on mobile. Smile
