Hi there, open office portable is a great application but the thing is its more than what we actually, for most of us anyway. most of us will use the OpenOffice Write and OpenOffice Calc, not Impress or Draw or Base. What happens is most of us are carriyng what we do not use a wast of space in the thumb drive. I want to know is there any way of getting rid of unwanted stuff in OpenOffice. I only Use calc and write.
thanx.

I got it down to 62223989 bytes by removing localization files (except en-US, of course), and a few other things (I can't remember; I know I didn't use UPX). Icons may be in 7z archives instead of zip, in which case you'll have to find the archives and convert them to zip. It's a bit outdated, but check it out:

Note: I do not have high speed access any more, and I lost a copy that I had locally, so I cannot say for sure what I did or what's missing. You can always compare it to a regular distribution, though.

sorry for the request may be my keywords just didnt work.
How can I find/locate/get rid of these files?...

No, I can't - now ain't that ironic?
See, ever since I discovered Portable OO, I have run IT exclusively, having long ago removed my "installed" version of OO... So basically, I have nothing to compare the portable version TO...
Anyhoo, my query was directed at Bahamut, who first suggested to get rid of localization features ('cept English). The idea is, if *he* did it, then surely he can tell me where to look and how to ID these files, so as to mark them for deletion and slim down my portable OO's footprint...
Edit:
Oh hey, while I'm on the topic of OO, anyone here know of a plug-in or hack, whatever, to get OO to open multiple documents at one time (MDI interface), say, a tabbed approach?...
Anyone?...

I did it a while ago, so I don't remember exactly. Search for files/folders with names containing "locale" or "en-US" and you should find files with similar names. files with locale designations other than "en-US" (though you should keep en-GB files as well) are almost always unnecessary. I don't know where there's a list of what each locale designation means, but they go in the format of (language)-(country), with two letters for each. For example, en-US means English (United States), and de-DE means German (Germany) (aka Deutsch (Deutschland)).
As for an MDI, I think it's a bit low on the development team's priority since most people use it one document at a time. Programs like Notepad++ have tabs because they're used for quick edits most of the time. It would be nice to see, but such an advanced editor like that doesn't require that functionality as much as smaller programs.

Following your suggestion, I managed to trim ~23 MB from my portable OO 2.04 folder size. I'd like a bit more space free, but 23 M will do for starters.
Thx!....

save a whopping 24 megabytes by eradicating the useless help files.
I used windows search to locate any file with de-DE and deleted about 18Mb of files, Leaving only anything with en-US or en-GB and ones named with non language names, I also deleted the help folder (saving another 20Mb)
Tip: you can rename the files you want to delete first (eg- put a R infront of the file name) to see if OO still works, then delete them.

Danny

Will be smaller.

There' a simpler method I used:
I just copied the entire OO folder to another drive, and started deleting away on the original - that way, if I screwed something up, I simply needed to delete the now screwed-up folder, and move the "extra" folder back to where the original was, no prob.
As it turned out, my selective deletions were on-target, and I ended up deleting 23 MB of detritus and was left with a fully functioning OO...
Try it!
Btw, don't you mean to say in your sig that you're a "Phan"?.... (*I* certainly am; I'm also a "Phile" = X-Files fan)
