I'm using the latest version of Firefox Portable, and I've followed the instructions for changing the titlebar icon (create a new folder in chrome called icons, then inside that create default, then main-window.ico should be the the new icon), but they didn't work. There are like 5 different chrome folders, and I've tried them all together, and each one separate, still no luck. Has anyone changed the icon in the titlebar successfully; how'd you do it? Or, does anyone know of an extension that could do the same thing for me? Thanks

That's because you're placing it in the wrong directory. It must be in:
FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\chrome\icons\default
And it must be called main-window.ico.

I tried it and still no avail. Does the new icon need to have certain specs? As of now the only real specification I had was that it was 16x16. Any other ideas?
Works fine. Any valid ICO file works. I just grabbed 7-Zip's for kicks.

At first I too couldn't change the icon but it actually worked.
As John said the icon (named main-window.ico) should be in:
FirefoxPortable\App\firefox\chrome\icons\default
Windows has an icon cache so basically even when we change the icons, the old ones will still be used. So if you icon does not change you have to recreate the icon cache and changing icon size is one possible solutions.
1. Right-click an empty area of your desktop, and then click Properties.
2. Click the Appearance tab, and then click Advanced.
3. From Item drop down list choose "Icon". Then change size to, say, 16.
4. Confirm the change. Your desktop may become messy with icons. Repeat the steps from 1 to 4, and return the old Icon size value.
That did it for me.
I realize it's been 4 years since the last post, but anyway I decided to reply just in case someone may need that info in 2011 just like I did.
