Hi,
Just downloaded and copied portable abiword on to my thumb drive.
Unfortunatly the computer I'm using is Chinese and I don't speak Chinese at all. I've managed to change the interface language to Englsih. I've also download the british dictionary and put that in the correct place so that I can run the UK spell checker but when ever I load up abiword I have to change the spell check language to EN-GB from zh-CN and even then it keeps reverting to zh-CN. Any idea how I can change this permantly ?
Otherwise portable abiword is great. Thanks a lot
Mark
Try unchecking 'Change Language when changing keyboard' in Tools > Preferences > 'Language' Tab.
Thanks for the tip.
That has at least solved 1/2 the problem. When I select the english spell check via Tools > set language the language changes to english and seems to stay that way. (I saw that setting before but asummed it had something to do with the UI language not the spell check. )
All I need to do now is to get en-GB to be the default language when when abiword loads. I've tried copying "normal.awt-en_GB" in the \PortableApps\PortableAbiWord\abiword\templates folder to normal.awt but this made no difference. Any idea where this setting is stored?
Thanks again for the help
Mark
The 'normal' template is loaded with regard to the locale, so try this:
- rename normal.awt-zh_CN to normal.awt-zh_CN.bak
- make a copy of normal.awt-en_GB named normal.awt-zh_CN
Yes. That got it sorted. Brilliant.
Thanks a lot for your help
