There's something up with my FxPortable. It was in the process of restarting to install Google Toolbar, when the flash drive lost the USB connection somehow. So I plugged it in at another computer, and all seemed well. Not so when I browsed through the extensions folder. The staged-xpis folder under that reports file size as 184GB (my flash drive is only 1GB) and is undeletable. The staged-xpis folder contains a lot of files with garbage filenames and huge filesizes. (screencap) I can't delete or access anything in this directory, so I can't delete any parent directories either. Is this a recoverable problem?
Btw, I have a Linux box and a Mac OS X box at my disposal at home, if that helps.

That screenshot looks horrible. Perfect example of a messed up folder. No offence intended. Did you try deleting the garbage with your Linux box? I never tried but maybe Linux is able to delete them...

Ah. The plot thickens. My MacOS X laptop reports staged-xpis as being a Unix executable 1.13GB in size. There might be a messed up pointer in the table that says where all the files are and how big they are (term?), so I don't want to delete the folder just yet before I've backed up my drive.

hmm... Seems to change filesize every time I insert the drive. I think I'll back up my documents folder, zero out the drive (dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/sda1), and start over. Seems the logical thing to do, since now Miranda IM is complaining of database corruption.
