Setting Up DSL (Damn Small Linux)

I was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this... I can boot DSL when in Windows when double clicking on the "dsl-pendrive" MS-DOS batch file that came with the dsl-3.2 embedded zip folder, but I do not understand how to set it up so that I can reboot in Linux... I am using a 1 gigabyte SanDisk Cruzer Micro with U3 and security enabled. If anyone could explain this to me in relatively simple terms it would be greatly appreciated!

Easy

Right-click onto your desktop ->Power down ->reboot.

Not working...

I tried rebooting from within the DSL emulation and it starts the process but stops at the line "Booting from hard disk" in the command prompt. Is there a reason for this or am I not waiting long enough? Also, how would it be possible (if it is at all) to update Firefox in DSL to version 2.0.0.2 (from version 0.9)?

Thanks,

I tried the same

with the same result.
Maybe its qemu / dsl 's mistake and for now you can only use the manual way (shutting it down; waiting for everything to close; restarting manually)
Maybe there is something about this "bug" on the dsl forums...

What about the ISO...

I read somewhere that the embedded zip version of DSL works only for emulation within Windows or Linux; would it be possible to somehow "burn" the iso image (which can also be downloaded) to the USB drive, and would this allow me to boot only in DSL?

Yes

That would work.
Then you would have a linux live cd to boot your PC with.
Its just a pitty that cds are so big and DSL is so small. Wink

True...

I think I'll just stick with Ubuntu live CD

Yes

Or the mother of all Linux live cds:
KNOPPIX.
It is really incredible, especially the DVD edition.
