I have been using Firefox portable for a couple months now, but all of a sudden I open up Firefox one day and all of my bookmarks are not showing up, and neither are my extensions. It seems that all of my info had been erased. However, I looked inside the data folder, and all of my info is still there. I tried downloading another copy of Firefox, and it seemed to work, but then when I closed it, Firefox reset again and it had the same problem. This is funny because I had been using the new version of Firefox for a couple weeks now and it has been working fine on all computers I've tried it on. But now it won't work correctly on any computers.
Also, when I click to load Firefox, it asks me to accept the privacy policy, which I have never had show up before in Firefox portable.
The usual cause of this is profile corruption. Often the prefs.js or extensions.rdf. Make a backup copy of your profile directory and then try deleting your prefs.js file. You'll lose your settings (but not your passwords, bookmarks, cookies, etc), but that may fix it. If not, try deleting the extensions.rdf and extensions.cache files and see if that helps.

I just checked my bookmark files, and now they are completely gone. They have reset to whatever the original was. I am very confused now.
FF does automatic backups. You can find them either in the profile directory or the bookmarkbackups directory by date.
And I'd recommend backing up your drive. This is usually indicative of corruption on the drive.

It seems that both of the backups of the bookmarks are the same as the original.
For future reference, whenever you have a problem in Firefox, you should backup your profile. Each time you launch it, you lose another bookmark backup. Launch it enough times after having your bookmarks go away... and the backup is gone.
Also for future reference, be sure to back up your drive on a regular basis. It's easy with the PortableApps.com Backup integrated into the PortableApps.com Platform. And you can just backup your app data and documents if space or time is a factor for ya.

I will remember that next time. I think now that it is actually a problem with my flash drive because I have downloaded different versions of Firefox portable and they all have the same problem. Another reason I think this is because my flash drive usb part got bent a lot and I bent it almost back, but I think that might have messed it up.
