TBP with yahoo

After carefully reading
https://portableapps.com/support/thunderbird_portable#recommended

I still haven't been able to get TBP working with my yahoo account. I tried it with my inbox.com email address and it worked fine.

I noticed some people in a posting said it doesn't need the extension yahoo-1-1-16.xpi. Was this for standard yahoo webmail or the PLUS! account. With/without xpi i don't seem to be able to get it to work.

It seems there is something not right with the settings and i'd be grateful to check with someone. I'm not sure that the incoming/outgoing servers should be "localhost".

In one posting (sorry can't find it) there were the following steps
Click File » New... » Acount
Choose Web Mail

I don't get a webmail option?

thanks

Because

you don't have the base Webmail extension installed.
Here's a guide, just replace the Hotmail extension with the Yahoo one.

I did try the webmail extension installing it as recommended. Even tried the Gmail and that didn't seem to work. Didn't try hotmail one as i don't have an account. Ryan did you get those two emails i sent a couple of weeks ago.

I think so

What were the titles of them?

Hmm, try File » New » Account and choose Web Mail.

Thanks i had a look. Tried TOOLS>ACCOUNT SETTINGS initially.
Still no webmail. Is xpi used for windows XP - that may be the problem as i'm not running XP.

Well i seem to have solved

Well i seem to have solved the problem. Reading on the Mozilla website there is an app called YPOPS! for yahoo. It mentions the webmail extension aswell but doesn't say one should try one instead of the other.

This seemed to work fine but now the virus scanner doesn't work but did when i tried TBP with my other email.

Any ideas. Seems i'm better off to stay with webmail!!

I suggest

getting a fresh copy of TBP and running my guide, just to make sure nothing else is interfering.
