Which AntiVirus do you use and why?
Personally I use ESET NOD32 because it got some excellent reviews.
It seems quite a few people use Avast, how good is their product?
I used Symantec for years, but their products have been going down hill the past couple years.

Things have got to get better, they can't get worse, or can they?
I don`t think that I need a real time scanning anitvirus (or even anitvirus in genreal) because I download only from 'trusted' sources, prefer open source and look out for critisim about the software + protect my computer on other way. (However, for people who don`t know the 'trusted' sites I would still suggest an on access scanner... Which one? Uhm... Kaspersky / Antivir Premium / Bitdefender + Adaware Professional / Spyware Doctor / Spyware Sweeper... / = OR for sure.)
But however. I don`t know why but I am still interested in antivirus software and I collect them. I general I don`t like commercial products with copy protection. Those pseudo protection makes really no sense because if someone want to use some software illegal he an use it no matter which software, it`s very easy to find though search engines... BUT, the copyright protection makes the software vulnerable itself. If I would write a virus the first thing I would do is to delete the license file.
I also don`t like software which _must_ be installed (it`s weak itself then aswell too) and really prefer software which can be made portable / doesn`t reqire installtion so I can use it inside bart be.
So, if I find a trustworthy product which can be made to "it works" I will put it into my collection and indlude it inside bart pe.

I use Grisoft's AVG anti-virus and anti-spyware software, and am very satisfied with what they do. The most obvious thing I notice is they don't seem to have any discernible impact on machine performance compared to Symantec's products.
I tried Avast but after a couple of trojans snuck through I changed. Avast is good at picking up known threats, but I think it's heuristics might be a bit feeble.
All IMHO of course.
And I've just changed my firewall to Comodo; mainly for it's natty interface and the amount of info it provides.
AVG too
How do you install AVG on a USB stick? When I try, AVG tells me that I can only install on a local drive.
I don`t think it would be easy to make it portable. Heavy use of registery and %appdata% but this is not the worst thing.
The portable function is just not wanted due the weird license key stuff. With their copy protections it`s not wanted that users can copy the folder from one directory to another to stop illegal copys.
Oh well, there might be a free version but it applies the same. If the free version could be used portable it would be an adventage so the free version is just as it is... a lite version of the full version to make people buy the full version.
However, prove me wrong, discussing how to make several antivirus software portable on this topic would be awesome.
